Jim Parr Jr.
Artistic Director

Jim Parr is a passionate and experienced choir conductor with community choirs, church, and children for over 40 years. Jim has a Bachelor of Music in Voice and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music K-12 1985. Jim also has a Supplementary Authorization and Teaching Credential in Special Education, Severely Handicapped 1995. In addition, Jim has a Masters of Arts in Education (Project):Inclusion in Performing Arts; An Integrated Chorus 2000.
Jim believes that music is a language that builds bridges of love and community for everyone it touches. Jim is well experienced, having founded two LGBQ+ mixed choruses: Chambers Mixed Ensemble (a sub group under SMC 1991-93, and DIVA (Diverse Individuals Vocalizing Affirmatively) from 1998-2004. Jim also directed the Sacramento Women’s Chorus from 2002-03. Jim’s most recent choir was The Sacramento Valley Concert choir From 2005-2023. Jim also currently sings with the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus and was most recently the baritone section leader.
Sage Brown
Assistant Artistic Director

Sage Brown is a passionate and empathic lefty activist and butch leather dyke who loves choral music. She began singing in choirs in high school and college. She sang with the Sacramento Women’s Chorus from 1997 until the end of 2006 when she co founded the Small Difference Women’s Choral Ensemble, for which she was Artistic Director for seven years. When this folded she went on to join the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus in 2015. Sage loves to sing and direct, especially in queer choruses that, by their very existence, make a difference. She is a retired elementary school teacher and lives with her beloved spouse and two cats.
Christian Bohm
Accompanist

Christian is a musical director, pianist, and vocal coach whose four-decade career has spanned the worlds of Broadway, cabaret, and choral music. He is proud to have been the artistic director of the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus for 2 years. Christian also worked for 5 years as the principal accompanist and assistant conductor for the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus where he served as a vocal coach and accompanist to Alan Cumming, Sharon Gless and many other guest artists. Christian currently works as an educator and music director for Broadway Sacramento where he has also performed as a musician and actor over the past decades.
